Foreigners honored

Ten foreign experts recently received the Qianjiang Friendship Award for their outstanding contributions to Hangzhou’s economic, cultural and social development.
It was the second time the Hangzhou government conferred the award to foreign experts since 2012.
The 10 experts hail from the United States, Japan, Britain, France, Germany, Singapore, Sweden and South Africa. They work in the fields of education, biochemistry, IT, energy and manufacturing.
The Qianjiang Friendship Award is the highest honor for foreigners working in Hangzhou. The city hires foreign experts for 200 municipal projects each year. Ten Hangzhou expatriates have received the Friendship Award from the central government.
The Zhejiang Province government also honors foreign experts in the province with the West Lake Friendship Award. About 50 experts in Hangzhou have received that award.
