Four Seasons enchants amidst tranquil setting
FOUR Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake provides a preferred address for both business and leisure travelers.
Located in China's most picturesque setting, Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake reveals an intimate lakeside village, melding centuries of tradition with a chic, contemporary style. After only a 45-minute high-speed train ride from Shanghai, you can discover this tranquil enclave, woven with ponds, streams and lagoons. If you come by air, the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport is approximately 45 minutes' drive from the hotel, which makes it very convenient for traveling, business and shopping.
Tranquil and exclusive, Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake features 78 guest rooms - including five suites - plus three residential-style villas for families and larger parties.
The villas at the hotel are designed in the distinct jiangnan (regions in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River) style. Characterized by pagoda-like peaked roof pavilions linked by walkways through traditional Chinese water gardens, the jiangnan aesthetic encourages a feeling of unity with one's environment in an elegantly calm atmosphere sought by emperors and travelers for centuries.
Starting at 63 square meters, guest rooms are one of the most spacious in Hangzhou. Many accommodations open to a terrace conservatory featuring windows that can be pushed back in fine weather. Views encompass forest glades, traditional gardens or lovely West Lake. Decor blends centuries of Chinese tradition with chic designs, seamlessly incorporating the latest technology for business and entertainment.
Guest rooms are furnished with an easy chair, sofa, writing desk and side table. Amenities include a 94-centimeter plasma screen television with DVD player, a guest friendly connection to television monitor for use with laptop or gaming devices, as well as an outlet for MP3 players.
The marble bathroom in each room includes a deep soaking tub, a separate glass shower with rainfall shower head and a large basin vanity with television.
As for food and beverage, Jin Sha Restaurant at the heart of the hotel will give you a great dining experience that promises to keep local gourmands happy. Featuring exquisite Shanghainese, Cantonese and classic Hangzhou cuisines presented by attentive Four Seasons staff, well-known dishes such as Renshen Fuguiji (Beggar's Chicken) are elevated to a new level of excellence.
With 11 private dining rooms that allow guests to entertain discreetly, Jin Sha is also a lively bar for pre-dinner drinks and a chic restaurant suitable for business meetings and social occasions. Terraces afford lagoon views and willow-veiled glimpses of West Lake, enhancing a truly memorable dining experience.
To accompany the meal, Hangzhou's finest selection of teas is served from the Tea Station at the center of Jin Sha. Longjing tea, native to the West Lake area, also enhances the flavor of several dishes, including the Hangzhou favorite Longjing Xiaren (fried local lake shrimp).
Guests will also find a broad selection of international and Chinese wines on the menu.
Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake will also offer several other dining options, including WLB (West Lake Bistro) for all day dining and the Lobby Lounge for traditional afternoon tea and other light refreshments.
Sensuous and spectacular, The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake is designed by Bill Bensley. The Spa offers an ambience of spiritual serenity, choosing traditional Chinese and Asian therapies designed for beauty and rejuvenation. There are nine treatment rooms - all large enough for couples. For those wishing to breathe the fresh air, climb up the winding paths in the woods or get lost in the romantic atmosphere of Hangzhou, there is nothing better than a bike ride around West Lake.
