Free parking
HANGZHOU is offering free parking in certain downtown areas when afternoon temperatures exceed 37 degrees Celsius, according to the Hangzhou Urban Management Commission.
The practice applies in Shangcheng, Xiacheng, Jianggan, Xihu, Gongshu, the Hangzhou Economic Development Zone and the West Lake Scenic Area. The move is part of a policy to give parking attendants and other outdoor workers a break when temperatures reach potentially hazardous levels.
In Shangcheng District, when the temperature is between 37 and 40 degrees, fee collection will cease from 12:30pm to 4pm.
In Xiacheng District, the time will be 11:30am to 3:30pm. Exceptions apply in certain areas, such as areas around Sijiqing Primary School and Yintai Department Store. When the temperature rises above 40 degrees, parking fees in all areas will cease for the entire day.
