TWO tea stalls began to serve cold tea to pedestrians for free on July 1.

The tea stall at the terminal of Bus No. 76 is operated by a man surnamed Tong and his wife. They serve free tea every summer from July 1 to August 31 between 8am and 4pm.

They put green tea, black tea and chrysanthemum tea in big buckets and some 190 volunteers will take turns to hand out cups of tea at the stall named “Chaxiang Teahouse.”

Another tea stall operated by Wang Huiling, 73, in Pujia Community of Jianggan District has served free tea every summer for 14 years.

Wang has 14 volunteers who brew tea and start serving from 7:30am. His tea stall has three long tables and nine stools. The community provides water subsidy and residents donated money to support Wang and her team.
