GDP increases 7.5%
HANGZHOU'S gross domestic product rose 7.5 percent year-on-year to 337.27 billion yuan (US$53 billion) in the first half of 2012, the Hangzhou Statistics Bureau said this week.
The increase is a bit higher than the average 7.4 percent in Zhejiang Province, according to the Zhejiang Province Statistics Bureau.
In the first half of the year, the city's per capita disposable income for urban residents was 20,590 yuan, up 10.1 percent on the same period last year.
Per capita income for rural residents was 11,129 yuan, an increase of 12 percent on last year.
With the rise for rural residents higher than that for urban dwellers, this suggests Hangzhou's rural-urban gap is being narrowed.
