THIS year’s Hangzhou Citizen Photography Festival will begin on May 8. Exhibitions for both amateur and professional photographers will be held, along with an award ceremony and a lecture by a Pulitzer prize-winning photographer.

The main venues for the festival are Solitary Hill, Bai Causeway and West Lake Expo Museum. Activities will also be held at Grand Canal Museum, Hangzhou Library, some cafes, creative parks and shopping malls.

Photo exhibitions will also be held in Shangcheng, Jianggan and Gongshu districts and the city’s satellite towns of Fuyang, Tonglu and Chun’an.

People can upload their photos taken in Hangzhou to “My City and I” on www.kpkpw.com to enter the contest. The winner will receive a five-day stay in a lake-view room in Hangzhou The New Hotel.

“Beautiful Hangzhou” postcards will be handed out during the festival, said the event organizer.

Prize-winning photographs will be exhibited along the Bai Causeway.

Pulitzer-prize winner Liu Heung Shing, who recorded China’s dramatic changes in the past three decades as an American photojournalist, will share his experiences in a lecture.

Taiwanese photographer Juan I-Jong and Chinese-British photographer Andrew Wong will also give lectures.
