Gongshu cultural projects
A total of 108 projects have been planned for cultural development over the next three years in Gongshu by the district government.
The aim of the projects are to make the district a demonstration area on Grand Canal culture in China.
Gongshu District will hold Grand Canal Cultural Festival and Grand Canal International Poetry Festival, according to Chen Ning, Party secretary of the district’s Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV, Film, Press and Publication.
In addition, the construction of the Grand Canal Central Park, Grand Canal Grand Theater and Grand Canal Asian Games Park, will be completed and open to the public by 2022. The district also plans to set up the Grand Canal Stadium, a cultural planning hall, Banshan Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall and Gongshu District Stadium in the future.
A Grand Canal research institute will be founded in Gongshu and dedicated to the preservation of heritages and cultural resources related to the canal that runs from Hangzhou to Beijing. The district is also planning to convert the vacant Hangzhou Iron and Steel Factory into a Sino-French cultural and creative industry park.
