ONE-HUNDRED young couples tied the knot in a collective wedding held at West Lake on October 6. The couples are from 18 countries, including France, Germany, Italy and the United States.
Clad in Chinese wedding gowns, the couples experienced traditional Chinese wedding rituals and walked down a red carpet on a bridge. Huang Hong, a Hangzhou man, married his girlfriend from Ukraine. He said he fell in love with his wife when he was studying in Ukraine and decided to give her a grand Chinese-style wedding. A couple from Hong Kong said they won a lucky draw held by a travel agency to attend the West Lake wedding and they liked Hangzhou so much that they plan to visit the city again. This is the 16th year that Hangzhou has held the annual group wedding at West Lake.
