Health care boost
HANGZHOU plans to lower the threshold for investment in the health care industry and let more private hospitals open to ease the burden on public medical facilities, according to the government’s website, www.hangzhou.gov.cn.
The city will cut approval procedures for opening rehabilitation centers, geriatric hospitals, children’s hospitals and nursing homes, and treat private and public establishments equally. District and town authorities will have the right to approve smaller hospitals with no more than 250 beds.
The new policy also encourages reduced public ownership of hospitals and the infusion of private capital in some public hospitals.
