Heat inflates prices
High temperatures pushed up Hangzhou’s consumer price index in July by 2.4 percent from a year earlier, according to the Hangzhou Statistics Bureau. The figure was 0.3 percent higher compared with June.
The prices of fresh vegetables climbed 4.2 percent year on year as crops suffered due to the heat.
With many people choosing to escape during summer vacation, prices of air tickets in July went up 14.1 percent compared with June.
