Higher taxi fares

Xiaoshan, Yuhang, Fuyang and Xiasha districts have adopted a uniform flag-down rate of 11 yuan from January 1, up from 6 yuan for the first 2 kilometers. Meanwhile, taxis registered in these four districts can take passengers to downtown destinations.

Some taxis already have a new livery, a new roof sign and a GPS navigation system. All taxis registered in the four districts will be configured before the end of April.

In the past, people in these areas had to take downtown-based taxis to go to the central part of Hangzhou, an inconvenience for travelers.

The first 200 of a whole fleet of 878 taxis in Xiaoshan have had a new taxi meter and hit the road on December 31.

Yuhang District has 700 taxis and their upgrade will finish before the end of January. Fuyang District has 269 taxis and switched to the new pricing system on New Year’s Day.

So far, a total of 9,910 taxis are registered in Hangzhou.
