High-speed rail to Kunming

HIGH-SPEED train service from Shanghai to Kunming, the capital of southwestern Yunnan Province, will start next month.
The trip will cover 2,200 kilometers, making it the longest east-west train route in the country, passing Hangzhou, Nanchang, Changsha and Guiyang, four provincial capitals.
The train will travel at an average speed of 350 kilometers an hour and complete the trip in nine hours, compared with 37 hours now.
Hangzhou travelers can reach Kunming in eight hours. The fare will cost between 700 yuan and 750 yuan, railway officials said.
