High-speed railways

Travel from Hangzhou to Xi’an, capital of Shaanxi Province, and to Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province, will become faster and more comfortable thanks to new high-speed railways.

Workers are building the Huaihua-Guizhou section of the Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway. Upon completion, the trip from Hangzhou to Guiyang will be cut from 26 to 7.5 hours.

Meanwhile, the Zhengzhou-Xuzhou section of a high-speed railway linking Xuzhou, a city in coastal Jiangsu Province with Lanzhou, capital of Gansu Province, is under construction and will open this year. The trip from Hangzhou to Xi’an will be cut to about seven hours.

Eventually the line will be linked to Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
