High-speed to Chengdu

A high-speed railway from Shanghai to Chengdu, capital of western Sichuan Province, will go into service in 2022, cutting the trip from Hangzhou to Wuhan to four hours, and the trip to Chengdu to eight hours.

The planned railway will also link Hangzhou with Nanjing, Hefei, Wuhan and Chongqing.

Currently, it takes at least 14 hours to travel from Hangzhou to Wuhan and more than 30 hours to Chengdu. The new high-speed railway will have a maximum speed of 350 kilometers an hour.
