Holiday visitors

More than 15 million people visited Hangzhou during the National Day holiday even though some attractions were forced to close partially due to typhoon Fitow.

The number of visitors increased slightly from a year ago. They boosted the city’s tourism income in the seven-day holiday to 7.9 billion yuan (US$1.25 billion), up 3.8 percent year-on-year.

Nearly 2 million people visited Hangzhou on October 1, the first day of the holiday.

Trains transported 2.2 million people during the time, a jump of 14.3 percent from a year earlier. Many travelers have said they prefer high-speed trains because they save time and are more comfortable.
