Hotlines merge
ALL government hotlines in Hangzhou will be unified under the number 12345, according to a government action plan.
The hotline will cover industrial and commercial administration, quality supervision, food and drug administration, pricing issues, healthcare, human resources, social security, environment protection, culture, intellectual property, land resources, urban management and transport.
Thirty-four earlier hotlines will be disconnected as the specific issues they address move under the new unified number.
However, emergency service lines — 110 for police help, 120 for medical emergencies and 119 for fire control — will remain in effect.
For some popular hotlines, the original numbers will also remain in operation, with their calls and the calls received by 12345 to be shared. These hotlines include 12333 for human resources and social security issues, 12319 for urban management issues, 12328 for transport issues, and 12315 for market supervision issues.
The 12345 hotline will cover the districts of Shangcheng, Xiacheng, Jianggan, Gongshu, Xihu, Binjiang, Hangzhou Economic Development Zone, Dajiangdong Industrial Hub and West Lake Scenic Area.
So far, the 12345 hotline has received 3.67 million complaints. In the first half of this year, vehicle management, community management, village affairs, illegal construction and water supply were the five biggest sources of complaint.
