Huangshan railway

CONSTRUCTION will begin next month on a 265-kilometer railway linking Hangzhou and Huangshan, a tourist city at the foot of Yellow Mountain in Anhui Province, officials said.

Expected to open in 2018, trains will take 90 minutes to travel between the two cities.

The whole project will cost 33.8 billion yuan (US$5.8 billion).

The railway will have 10 stations — Hangzhou East, Hangzhou South, Fuyang, Tonglu, Jiande and Chun’an stations in Zhejiang Province and Sanyang, Jixi, Yixian and Huangshan stations in Anhui Province. Tourists from Shanghai, Ningbo and Nanjing will have easy access to Yellow Mountain, Qiandao Lake and Fuchun River via the new railway.
