Hubin Road fixed

Hangzhou completed its largest renovation project over the past 10 years on the city’s landmark Hubin Road along West Lake on Monday.

The direction of the tiles has been changed to improve drainage. About 70 percent of the old road tiles have been preserved to protect the environment and cultural relics. Tiles around manholes have been replaced with concrete, and the concrete base under the tiles has been thoroughly repaired.

The renovation work started August 26. The road is more than 800 meters long and 6 meters wide.

The municipal engineering department will inspect the road two to three times a week to make immediate repairs on newly placed tiles if they are crushed or loosened by passing vehicles.

Residents are encouraged to call the Chinese-language hotline 12319 to report a loose tile on this road.
