Hubin Road revamp

Hangzhou authorities plan to renovate the landmark Hubin Road and remove roadside flower beds and shrubs to give people an unobstructed view over the West Lake.

The plan also includes growing more plants and flowers along roads in the lake area and outlining pavilions, bridges and pagodas with lights to create a more impressive atmosphere at night.

Public toilets, trash bins and manhole covers along the 840-meter Hubin Road will be upgraded. The manhole covers will be designed with local symbols.

The officials said the renovation project will be completed next April.

Workers renovated Hubin Road two years ago to replace its broken granite tiles. Last year the scenic boulevard was turned into a pedestrian road.
