Illegal structures
XIAOSHAN urban management officials dismantled illegal structures a man built on the roof of a hotel that adjoins his fifth-floor balcony last week.
The man, surnamed Feng, managed to build a 1,000-square-meter garden on the roof of an annex building. The garden has a fish pond, a pavilion, a log cabin, a veranda and a pile of rocks amidst trees and shrubs, but it is not open to other residents in the building.
Feng removed the fence separating the hotel and his apartment and put a door there. He had occupied the roof since 2010 and built a paradise for himself.
After receiving complaints from other residents, the urban management officials took action last Tuesday to remove illegal structures on the roof.
