Indianapolis exhibit offers peek into American life

Hangzhou Public Library is hosting an exhibition about the US city Indianapolis to celebrate the fifth anniversary of establishing sister city ties.

Highlights of the exhibition include the jersey and helmet of Indianapolis Colts football player Andrew Luck, an autographed jersey of Indiana Pacers star Paul George and racing car models.

Sports is a big part of the exhibit as photos of the city’s big name events such as the Indy 500, Red Bull Motor GP and its baseball stadium are on display.

Information about the city’s zoo, universities and big companies are also available.

“I hope people who have not visited the United States will become more curious about America and the rest of the world via this exhibition,” Jane A. Gehlhausen, director of International and Cultural Affairs in Indianapolis, told Shanghai Daily.

“During the past five years, we have seen real results from the two cities’ collaborative relationship,” she added.

The exhibition has been co-organized by the Hangzhou Public Library, the municipal government of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis-Hangzhou Sister City Association. The exhibition will last until October 29.

Related activities this month include an education introduction meeting on October 20 at 2pm; American Jazz Salon on October 26 at 2pm; and Investment Salon on October 27 at 10am.
