Jade stamps

THE country's first set of jade stamps were released on Tuesday in Liangzhu, Hangzhou, known for its Liangzhu Jade Culture - the last Neolithic jade culture in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The set features two jade stamps measuring 40 millimeters by 30 millimeters. The two stamps respectively feature the pattern of Jade Bi (disc), which in Liangzhu Culture represents the heaven, and Jade Cong (cylinders) that represents the earth.

Though the stamps cannot be made of the original Xiuyu, a special category of nephrite, they are of value to collectors. The price of each set is 360 yuan (US$55).

In total, 10,000 sets of the jade stamps were issued by State Post Bureau of China. Meanwhile, paper stamps that share the same pattern and size as the jade version are on sale, with the normal value of 1.20 yuan for each stamp.
