Jaywalkers fined

traffic police punished 119,600 jaywalkers last year, 68 times the number of 2012. Police hired 700 assistants to stop jaywalking and used cameras to catch jaywalkers at intersections. By the end of 2013, the city had increased the number of one-way streets to 240, around 18 percent of all downtown roads.
