THE first subway Metro Line 1 will charge ticket prices from 2 yuan to 8 yuan, the Hangzhou Metro operator said this week.
The fares are based on: 2 yuan for up to 4 kilometers, 3 yuan for up to 8km, 4 yuan for up to 12km, 5 yuan for up to 18km, 6 yuan for up to 24km, 7 yuan for up to 32km and 8 yuan for up to 40km.
The Metro line has a total length of 48 kilometers.
People aged over 70 can ride the subway at half price during peak hours and for free at other times. Passengers aged 60-70 can enjoy 50 percent discount, while children less than 1.3 meters tall can ride for free if accompanied by an adult.
And people traveling with a public transport card or a resident card with e-wallet functions are entitled to a 10 percent discount.
Metro Line 1 is scheduled to go into operation by the end of this month.
