Libraries planned

THE Hangzhou government plans to open many more 24-hour public libraries. It has asked the city’s Workers’ Cultural Palace, Children’s Palace, Science and Technology Hall, and Women and Children’s Activity Center to open at least 48 hours a week to the public.

It also urged the city’s primary and middle schools to open their sports facilities to the public free of charge after school. Public stadiums should be open to local citizens at least six hours a day, the government said.

Officials said all public cultural venues should provide free Wi-Fi service and students should be able to download digital books at school. All these services must be free of charge.
