Life span lengthens
THE average life span of Hangzhou residents reached 80.67 years last year, 0.41 years longer than in 2009, according to the city's health officials.
The city's life expectancy at birth is 78.63 for men and 82.82 for women, compared with 77.98 and 82.76 respectively in 2009.
The life span of urban residents was 81.19, higher than the city's average.
Hangzhou's maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate were both close to the level of the developed nations.

Nationwide, Shanghai has the highest life expectancy of 82.13, followed by Beijing at 80.81.
