Line 9 to open a year early

THE preliminary design of the first phase of Metro Line 9 from downtown Hangzhou to Yuhang District has been approved by the Zhejiang Reform and Development Commission.

The planned subway will have 14 stations along a 17-kilometer route. It will connect with Metro Line 1 at the Passenger Center Station in the south and Linping Station in the north.

The construction of Metro Line 9 will start later this year and go into operation in 2020, one year earlier than originally scheduled. Once in operation, people can travel from Xianghu Station in Xiaoshan District to Linping Road Station in Yuhang District directly with a train interval of 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, the construction of Hangzhou-Fuyang Intercity Railway will be started by year end and be completed in 2020, one year later than originally planned. The 23.5-kilometer urban rail will travel from the China Academy of Art in Xihu District to the heart of Fuyang District with eight underground stations and three elevated stations.

Eight stations are in Fuyang, southwest of Hangzhou, and three stations in Xihu District. It will connect with Metro Line 6 at China Academy of Art Station around the corner of Hangxin Road and Meiyuan Road S.

After completion, it will take around 30 minutes to commute between downtown Hangzhou and Fuyang.
