Malmqvist seals it

G?RAN Malmqvist, a Swedish sinologist and a member of the Swedish Academy, was elected a member of Xiling Seal Engraving Society this week.
Known as Ma Yueran by his Chinese name, Malmqvist is one of the four new members of the prestigious fine arts establishment in China.
The 88-year-old sinologist met Bao Zhengyan, deputy director of the society in Stockholm in September and expressed his wish to join the society to help promote traditional Chinese culture.
The society will celebrate its 110th anniversary next year.
