CIVIL affairs officials in Shangcheng District have finished uploading marriage registration files to an online database to make it convenient for people to check the marriage status of their prospective spouse.
The officials sorted 35,249 marriage records from 1950 to 2005, making 710 corrections and entered them into the national marriage registration database. The mistakes mainly involved people’s names, ID card numbers and addresses.
Records from 2005 onward had already been entered into the database.
Marriage status can be checked at the marriage registration office closest to the person’s home address or on the national marriage registration database if the file has been added.
