Master plan

THE city government is seeking public opinion for the revised 2001-2020 master plan for Hangzhou before July 12.

In the revised plan, the city’s permanent population projection was increased from 8.2 million to 10 million. Hangzhou already had 8.8 million permanent residents as of 2012, about 7.45 million of them in urban districts.

The city’s population will mainly concentrate in Jiangnan, Xiasha, Linping and Yuhang districts.

According to the revised plan, Hangzhou will have five subways in 2020, totaling 190 kilometers in length.

Hangzhou will have two city centers, one along Yan’an Road, another in Qianjiang New Town. It will have six sub-centers in Jiangnan, Linping, Xiasha, Dajiangdong, Future Technology City and Chengbei. The city will also have six suburban parks such as Dongming Hill Forest Park.

The revised master plan can be found at www.hangzhou.gov.cn or at the Hangzhou Urban Planning Bureau. The public can submit comments and suggestions before July 12.
