Mayor reform pledge
MAYOR Zhang Hongming said Hangzhou will continue to promote innovation and business startups, speaking at the annual meeting of the National People’s Congress in Beijing.
Zhang said the Hangzhou government will accelerate its administrative reforms following the success of removing 10,000 items from its powers list last year. The list will be further cut this year.
Zhang added that Hangzhou will undertake more life-improvement projects this year, involving employment, education, health care, nursing homes and the environment.
Vehicles that don’t meet emissions standards will be taken off the roads, while the city will add 2,500 new energy vehicles.
