Metro construction on track

Hangzhou plans to complete the construction of nine Metro lines by the end of 2021. In 2018 the construction of seven new Metro lines will be started, including the third phase of Metro Line 1, first phase of Line 3, second phase of Line 4 and the first phase projects of Line 7, 8, 9 and 10.

The construction of two other lines, the first phase of Line 5 and 6, has already been started. The third phase of Line 1 will extend 12.2km with five stations, all underground, including the interchange station at Xiaoshan International Airport and an interchange at Binjiang No. 2 Road Station. At the Binjiang No. 2 Road Station the Line 1 will interchange with a new line running along the banks of the Qiantang River. The third phase of Line 1 will be in operation in 2020.

The 52.9km Line 3 will go from Wenyi Road W. Station to Xingqiao Road Station with a branch line from Xiaoheshan Station to Baijiayuan Road Station. There will be 35 stations along the line with 13 interchange stations. The first phase of Line 3 is expected to be completed in 2021.

The second phase of Line 4 will go from Pengbu Station to Zijingang Road Station over a distance of 24.1km. There will be 15 stations, six of them interchange stations. The second phase of Line 4 will be completed in 2021.
