Metro fares set
THE Hangzhou Price Bureau last week approved fare prices for an extension of Metro Line 2. The starting price is 2 yuan (US$0.33) for the first 4 kilometers with a maximum price of 5 yuan for the line, which stretches 24 kilometers. Passengers with prepaid passes can receive a 9 percent discount. People aged 70 and above can ride for free but have to pay half price if traveling during rush hours (7am-8:30am and 5pm-6pm). People aged 60 to 70 can enjoy half price with valid ID documents.
Students also enjoy a 50 percent discount with valid documents. Veterans who joined the communist revolution before October 1949, disabled servicemen and policemen, and people with disabilities ride for free. Blood donors with valid certificates also ride free. Children under 130cm also do not need a ticket but they have to be accompanied by an adult. If an adult travels with more than one child, the other children need tickets.
