Minimum wage rises
Hangzhou will raise its minimum salary by 13 percent to 1,860 yuan (US$300) per month beginning on November 1. The minimum hourly wage will rise from 13.5 yuan to 17 yuan, the government announced.
The city introduced a minimum salary in 1994.
With the adjustment, Hangzhou’s minimum monthly salary will be the third highest in China after Shenzhen’s 2,030 yuan and Shanghai’s 2,020 yuan.
Hangzhou adjusts its minimum salary every year. Last year’s increase was 180 yuan.
Due to regional wealth gaps, Zhejiang Province has four minimum salary levels — 1,860 yuan, 1,660 yuan, 1,530 yuan and 1,380 yuan.
