DESPITE temperatures of 2 degrees Celsius, some 30 Hangzhou residents put on their bathing suits and took a dip in the freezing waters of the West Lake for the Mini West Lake Ironman Triathlon, on January 1.
The triathlon included a swim of 150 meters in the West Lake, cycling and running. The amateur multi-sports competition has been held in the city for 19 straight years and has drawn in both the young and the old.
