New 3-D animation

A new 3-D animation film, "Kunta," is to be released nationwide on August 2.

"Kunta" tells an adventure story about two kids in Peanut Planet looking for water.

The film, produced by Zhejiang Versatile Media Company, has adopted cloud computing techniques - 6,700 high-tech computers supported the production.

"We were set and determined at the beginning to make a film according to 'Hollywood' standards," said the producer and director, Leo Lee.

More than 150 people finished the film in three years - a much longer filmmaking period than the average in China.

"To make fast money is like a 'fashion' in the Chinese animation field, yet I prefer to make a film that respects my team and the audience," he added.

The company also invented a technique and a set of equipment to shoot miniature landscapes for the film, such as mountains and deserts.
