New bullet trains

A new high-speed railway between the city of Xiamen in Fujian Province and the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province will save Hangzhou passengers at least six hours to reach Shenzhen when it begins operating on December 26.

The 502-kilometer railway is designed with a speed of 200 kilometers an hour. It will take only about 10 hours to travel from Hangzhou to Shenzhen, compared with 16 hours now.

The bullet train fare is expected to cost about 440 yuan (US$70) for a Hangzhou-Shenzhen trip. Five train services will be available every day.
