THE 2012 China Xishan (Hangzhou) International Mountain-Climbing Festival and the Xishan Art Exhibition of the China Academy of Art opened on Wednesday in Waitongwu Village with more than 200 Chinese and foreign participants.

The annual climbing festival was firstly held last year after a 108-kilometer climbing trail was built in Xishan Hill. It proved a great success and attracted many climbing enthusiasts from home and abroad.

This year's festival includes not only the mountain-climbing and other outdoors events, but also photography and painting exhibitions to promote tourism in Xishan Hill.
