New public bikes

Liangzhu New Town in the northwestern part of Hangzhou will introduce a new model of public bikes next year, according to an agreement it signed with five bike producers.
The new bike has a heart-rate and weight monitor, pedals with a generator that will power the light and a GPS device. The design team is now testing other features of the bike, such as sockets for smart phones and wearable equipment.
Town officials said they will open more public bike stations and add toilets. A new rental service system will be introduced as early as next March and is expected to be expanded after trial.
