New sister cities
HANGZHOU has tied new relationships with Lugano in Switzerland and Seogwipo in South Korea, bringing the city's number of sister cities worldwide to 26.
Lugano is a tourist city in southern Switzerland and a stop on the main European north-south route.
Seogwipo, on Jeju Island in South Korea, has hosted many sports events, including matches during the 2002 World Cup.
Delegations from these latest sister cities participated in the 2012 Hangzhou International Sister City Mayors Conference this week, considering the theme "city and leisure."
This is the fourth mayor summit held in the city, also as a part of the ongoing West Lake International Expo.
