New sports facilities
HANGZHOU will build more public sports facilities by 2020, according to the city’s 13th Five-Year Plan.
The planned Hangzhou Public Fitness Center, featuring a swimming pool and a gym, covers 88,100 square meters. The Shangcheng District Sports Center, with venues for chess, aerobics, bodybuilding and martial arts will occupy 55,100 square meters.
At the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center in Binjiang District, in addition to the 80,000-seat stadium, work to build 308,700 square meters of sports facilities underground has also started. At the same time, the Binjiang District Sports Center will be expanded with plans for a 5,000-seat stadium.
Jiande, a county-level city under Hangzhou, will build an aviation park where people can take a sky tour aboard a helicopter and watch paragliding events. The Jiande Sports and Convention Center will be constructed with a standard track and athletic field.
