New tea trademark
THE Hangzhou government is seeking advice on developing the tea industry and creating another tea trademark in addition to the famous West Lake Longjing Tea.
Qiantang Longjing Tea, the new brand the city is aiming to promote, covers Longjing tea produced in areas around the Qiandao Lake, Xianghu Lake and the Qiantang River.
The city hopes to increase the output value of Longjing tea to 2.3 billion yuan (US$354 million) in 2020. It also plans to set up a few tea-themed parks.
Tea lovers will come to Hangzhou to see tea plantations in Longjing Village and Meijiawu Village, the fountain of Hupao Spring, and China National Tea Museum.
