Online payment in bus
THE ONLINE payment system is being used in many fields, the latest being the public transportation. The system will cover more than 5,000 buses in downtown area by the end of this month. Passengers can scan the QR code on the bus to pay the fare.
Citizens can apply for a digital card and top it up on the third-party payment platform Alipay. The new payment method can be completed within 0.2 second, which equals swiping ordinary card.
Last year, the system was tested on 30 bus routes, which proved popular among passengers. Around 3.9 million people take bus every day and the total fare amounts to 1.7 million yuan (US$249,800). The system is expected to offer more convenience to passengers in Hangzhou.
