Online rumor denied
THE Hangzhou Public Security Bureau denied an online rumor that vehicles parked within 50 meters of a bus stop will be fined up to 1,000 yuan (US$160). It issued an clarification over the issue on its official Weibo account.
The bureau said vehicles parked too close to a bus stop or a road crossing will be towed away and the driver will be fined 150 yuan — and not 1,000 yuan as the rumor claimed. The rumor spread largely over WeChat, China’s biggest instant messaging platform.
But, vehicles parked near a bus stop in the South China city of Shenzhen will incur a fine of up to 1,000 yuan and even 2,000 yuan for severely holding up traffic, a media report said.
