Outsourcing summit

THE Fifth China Outsourcing Summit, held from Wednesday through today in Hangzhou, has lured over 180 buyers, more than half of whom are from abroad.

Big names including Nokia, Johnson and Johnson and Philips have been at the event to meet nearly 100 suppliers and discuss the future of the industry.

Activities have included forums and one-to-one consultations. The event is expected to drive China's outsourcing economy and help suppliers and buyers from home and abroad.

"Both suppliers and buyers have been rather active in one-to-one consultations," said Zhou Ming, the executive vice president and secretary general of China Council for International Investment Promotion, organizer of the annual event.

It is the fourth year Hangzhou has held the summit. Last year, outsourcing contracts of over US$4.3 billion were signed in Hangzhou.
