Panda celebrations
Hangzhou Zoo plans to invite kids from 6 to 12 years old to join parties to say goodbye to “Kung Fu Panda” Shuyun and welcome Chengda and Chengxiao, twin pandas that will become new members of the zoo.
The farewell party will be held on September 22 when kids can play games with Shuyun and get gifts for interaction. Shuyun got the nickname Kung Fu Panda since he’s good at physical exercise, especially climbing the window.
Shuyun will return to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Sichuan Province. Yalin, Shuyun’s companion at the zoo, returned to the base in January.
Shuyun has grown from 70 kilograms when he came to the city two years ago to the current 90 kilograms. His twin brother, Shuxiang, was sent to Macau as a gift in 2010. Both Shuyun and Shuxiang were born in August 2008.
The reception party for Chengxiao and Chengda will be held on September 26. Hangzhou Zoo plans to invite 12 twin youngsters aged from 6 to 12 to make food and interact with them. The twins will take an airplane from Chengdu to Hangzhou on that day.
Interested parents and children can contact Hangzhou Zoo by calling (0571) 8798-1257 to book their seats in advance.
