Peach fest blossoms
A peach blossom festival is taking place in a park at the foot of Gaoting Hill, where some 5,000 peach trees in 40 varieties are flowering.
The Thousand Peach Park is not only a place to see flowers but also to sample local food specialties made of peaches or inspired by the fruit.
Visitors to the festival, which started over the weekend, can do some running on a newly built jogging path in the scenic area around Gaoting Hill that overlooks the Grand Canal. Visitors can pick up a smart card at the tourist service center to record the distance they run and their speed.
Card readers have been placed along the 10-kilometer jogging path, which will be extended to 22 kilometers before June.
A challenging bicycle course has also been built at the hill with muddy stretches and sloping surfaces.
There is no admission charge to enter the scenic area. Free shuttle bus service is available on the west side of Qingchun Square and the parking lot of Wushan Square from 8:30am to 2:20pm.
