Protection from heat
A GOVERNMENT regulation to increase pay for those who work outdoors in temperatures over 35 degrees Celsius will be in effect from June to September.
Additionally, if the temperature reaches 40 degrees, all outdoor work must be stopped. When the temperature is between 37 and 40 degrees, people should not work outdoors for more than six hours a day.
During hot days workers should have access to drinking water and medical treatment at their workplace. Pregnant women are not allowed to work outdoors if the temperature is over 35 degrees. Employers who violate the regulation can be fined up to 20,000 yuan.
