Relocation of urban villages
Hangzhou plans to relocate 56 urban villages enveloped by urban expansion to make them more livable in 2018.
The land resources made available after relocation will be used to construct 82 housing projects for relocated families. Another 35 housing projects for relocated families will be carried out in 2019 or 2020.
Public facilities are to be put in place, including 166 schools or kindergartens, 37 culture or sports facilities, 17 hospitals or clinics, 62 community service facilities, 71 squares or green belts, 125 infrastructures and 264 rivers or roads.
Last year 69 urban villages were relocated with 69,411 households signing relocation agreements with local authorities.
In 2016 Hangzhou announced the plan to renovate or relocate 246 urban villages by 2021. From 2018 to 2020 more than 100 urban villages will be renovated or relocated, mainly in Zhijiang, Zhuantang, Sandun, Sanbao, Wubao, Shenhua, Xiangfu, Banshan, Chengdong New City and Xiaoshan.
