Berths in sleeper cars for the Hangzhou-Chongqing route will go on sale from July 1. Train Z257 will leave Hangzhou East Railway Station at 6:55pm and arrive in Chongqing around 12:37pm the next day, totaling 17 hours 42 minutes. A hard berth costs 363 yuan and a soft berth costs 598 yuan.
The new train is expected to be popular among business travelers who can sleep on board and save money by not having to book a hotel. The new service is also likely to ease ticket shortages during the lunar New Year peak travel season.
